Part Of: Elden Ring: The Board Game
Large and headless, guardian of the Minor Erdtree, the Avatar will swiftly dispatch unwary Tarnished with a swing of its formidable staff…
Erdtree Avatar Expansion
One of the more bizarre foes you’ll face in the Lands Between, the Erdtree Avatar looks like a large tree stump animated to a strange semblance of life. It lacks a head, but certainly has arms, wielding its large staff to devastating effect.
The Erdtree Avatar isn’t the only one of its kind — you’ll find them wherever there’s a minor Erdtree, which they have sworn to protect. So, it’s safe to say this is an enemy you’ll encounter more than once during the course of your campaign.
Another large miniature, this time mounted onto a whopping 100mm base (big in any other game, but it’s got some serious competition here), the Erdtree Avatar also comes with a cadre of friends, sworn to protect the Erdtree with their lives if necessary.
Despite this, much like the Flying Dragon Agheel Expansion, the Erdtree Avatar Expansion isn’t a standalone experience, and is designed to fit into your Realm of the Grafted King campaign.
What Does It Add To My Game?
Here’s a quick summary of what the Erdtree Avatar Expansion will add to your game:
- A large new boss enemy – the Erdtree Avatar
- Six new enemies – the Erdtree Guardians
- A unique card encounter map where you’ll battle this bizarre creature
- Dedicated boss cards for the Erdtree Aavatar
- New Roundtable Hold cards
- New quests and side-quests
- New items and equipment
- A dedicated rulebook, explaining how to integrate the Erdtree Avatar into your campaign
Experiencing the Erdtree Avatar During Your Campaign
Like Flying Dragon Agheel, adding the Erdtree Avatar to your campaign is straightforward. At the start of your Realm of the Grafted King campaign, you’ll simply shuffle a unique card into the quest deck.
This card is the starter in a series of cards and quests that will cause your Tarnished to encounter the strange Erdtree Guardian enemies during their quests, following their trail until they’re led to the Minor Erdtree.
And again, if you lose the trail, don’t be too concerned. There’s a point in the campaign where it will become impossible to miss…
Find the location of the Minor Erdtree, and your reward will be a special boss encounter, on a dedicated encounter map designed especially for the showdown!
Don’t expect the Erdtree Avatar to be easy, despite its lurching gait. It’s a powerful foe, capable of extremely potent physical attacks and holy magic. It also has a nasty tendency to leap into the air and smash the entire area with its bulk, too…
Oh, and did I mention those pesky Guardians might turn up during the boss fight?
Like with Flying Dragon Agheel, there’s no requirement to attempt the Erdtree Avatar the moment you find it. In fact, I wouldn’t advise it in the slightest. You probably won’t be ready. You can always go back later on after gaining more runes and levelling up your Tarnished.
Defeat the Erdtree Avatar and not only will you stem the tide of Guardians on your heels, but you’ll also find new ways to customise your Flask of Wondrous Physick.
